[January 12, 2008]  The Lady Hilltoppers claimed the Class 1A state volleyball championship by winning 25-22, 25-22 over Keith School of Rockford on Nov. 10 at Redbird Arena.

Members of the winning team were Haley Bowles, Lindsey Durchholz, Samantha Nichols, Megan Stoll, Megan Greishiem, Jeri Kaye Turner, Elizabeth Fanning, Michael Ely, Morgan Litterly, Ellen Olson, Christina Stoll, Kaitlyn Kutz, Kyley Wyss and Kassi Schmidt.

Donna Dulle served as head coach, and assistant coach positions were held by Lindsay Volle and Chelsea Sietz. Steve Proctor served as trainer, and Christina Stoll was captain.

The team has marked its place in Illinois volleyball history, attaining 827 wins to only 189 losses in 27 years. That's an 81 percent chance of winning that opponents probably think about when they are about to go up against the Lady Hilltoppers.

Dulle has taken Mount Pulaski teams to state 10 times in the last 19 years. Her teams have brought home five second places, two third places and were the champs in 1989 also.

See the county board resolution below recognizing the character and qualities these young athletes and coach inspire.
