[January 14, 2008]  MORTON -- Rene Ann Auer, 56, of Morton, formerly of Lincoln, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at 12:36 p.m. at her home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. Prior to the visitation there will be a rosary service at 4:45 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Auer had worked for Apostolic Restmor Nursing Home in Morton and for Enloe Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.

She was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Lincoln to Paul Richard and LaDonna Jean Ryan Mahler. She married Michael Auer on March 26, 1982, in Lincoln. They were married 25 years.

She is survived by her husband, of Morton; her mother, LaDonna Mahler of Lincoln; three children, Tracey (and Donald) Nichols of Eclectic, Ala., Derek (and Sarah) Leith of Washington and Kerri Auer at home; her brothers and sisters, Phil (and Linda) Mahler of Lincoln, Doug (and Dana) Mahler of Lincoln, Paula Brunelle of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kurt (and Ellen) Mahler of Mayfield, Ky., and Julie (and Steve) Johnson of Sherman; and three grandchildren, Krya Nichols, Ryan Nichols and Kayci Leith.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton and Daughters of Isabella at Holy Family Church in Lincoln.

She graduated from Carroll Catholic School and Lincoln Community High School, Lincoln Land Community College, Murray State, and received an associate degree in general education from Illinois Central College.

Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School in Lincoln or the American Cancer Society.
