Preachers and Angels Fall to Saints

[January 14, 2008]  The Lincoln Christian College basketball teams played home games with Maryville on Saturday afternoon.

Preachers

The Saints from Maryville University handed the Preachers their ninth defeat to go with four wins for the season. The Preachers scored a respectable 45.8 percent from the field but could not match the Saints, who tallied 50.7 percent.

The Preachers had four players in double figures, led by Adam Everett with 22, Landan Callahan 16, Matt Searby 14 and Jon Wallace 10. Wallace also garnered 11 rebounds to lead LCC, which outrebounded the Saints 44-35.

Maryville was led by Nick Hentis with 19 points. Maryville had 13 different players score.

The Preachers will face Blackburn College at Carlinville on Wednesday evening.

Angels

The Lincoln Christian College Angels were no match for the Lady Saints of Maryville University as they dropped their 12th game of the season by a score of 82-36.

LCC could only score 28.3 percent from the field on 8-of-42 attempts. The Angels were led by Chelsey Kelly with 11, the only LCC player to make double figures.

The Lady Saints had 12 different players who scored, with four in double figures: Megan McCabe 15, Jackie Harrison 12, Courtney Bergheger 11 and Kimberly Douglas 11.

The Angels will next be in action on Wednesday against Blackburn College.
