Wilbur Eisberg

[January 18, 2008]  Wilbur H. Eisberg, 101, of The Christian Village, formerly of Chestnut, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at 8:55 a.m. at the Christian Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, with the Rev. Joel Dietrick officiating.

Burial will be in Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut.

Mr. Eisberg retired in 1973 after 44 years of farming in Oran Township.

He was born Sept. 18, 1906, in Arenzville to Louis and Emma Albers Eisberg. He married Edith E. Hahn on July 20, 1929, in Brunswick, Mo. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2000.

He is survived by two sons, Bruce (and Thelma) Eisberg of Lincoln and Keith (and Claudia) Eisberg of Mankato, Minn.; five grandchildren, Linda (and Michael) Boothe of Greenwood, Ind., Alan (and Lynn) Eisberg of Dousman, Wis., Anita (and Michael) Smith of North Mankato, Minn., Joyce (and John) Petersen of North Mankato, Minn., and Eric (Jennifer) Eisberg of Greenwood, Ind.; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kristin Davis, Chelsea Davis, Jason Eisberg, Nicholas Eisberg, Benjamin Eisberg, Katherine Smith, Kjirstyn Smith, Jacob Eisberg, Paul Eisberg, Michael Eisberg, Silas Petersen and Lydia Petersen.

He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by seven sisters.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut.

Memorials may be made to his church or The Christian Village.
