George 'Tweeter' Madigan

[January 22, 2008]  George W. "Tweeter" Madigan, 83, of Lincoln died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at 7:35 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Ryan Edgecombe officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Madigan retired from state employment at Manteno Developmental Center, where he was an engineer.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.

He was born March 9, 1924, in Lincoln. He married Valerie Miller on Aug. 19, 1999, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one stepson, Seven Ingram of Lincoln; and a cousin, Buster McKinney of Pharr, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Gordon Madigan.

In the military, he served in the European theater, fought in three major battles and received seven medals.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of AARP, Retired State Employees Association and American Legion Post 263.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of American Legion Post 263 or to the family.
