Gerald 'Jerry' Norris Sr.

[January 23, 2008]  Gerald J. "Jerry" Norris Sr., 65, of Lincoln died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at home with his family.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mr. Norris was employed at Stetson's, PPG and then retired from Lincoln Developmental Center after several years of service.

He served in the U.S. Navy.  

He was born May 2, 1942, in Detroit, Mich., to Joseph Lee and Dorothy M. Jacobs-Norris. He married Vicki Cummings on Dec. 19, 1986, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Gerald Norris Jr. (and Karen) of Mechanicsburg and Randy Norris of Lincoln; one daughter, Lisa Girard (and Kevin) of Springfield; two stepsons, Steve Cummings (and Susie) of Lincoln and Rob Cummings (and Marisa) of Lincoln; one stepdaughter, Tammy Zapata (and Emilio) of Lincoln; one brother, Eugene Norris (and Jeannie) of Chestnut; one aunt, Marie Allen of Lincoln; his mother-in-law, Marian Daniels of Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Dee Daniels of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Steve Henson (and Mary Lou) of Danville; 11 grandchildren, Andy and Kayla Cummings of Odin, Nick Cummings of Bloomington, Joseph and Anthony Cummings of Lincoln, Zach Farris of Lincoln, Isaih Zapata of Lincoln, Breanna and Brandon Mochel of Springfield, and Ryann Seaton and Sarah Ayers of Mechanicsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry was a state champion in bow shooting. He enjoyed hunting, metal detecting and spending time with his grandson Isaih.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
