[January 24, 2008]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Alice Joanne Schlitt, 82, of Mount Pulaski died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at 2:17 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhart, with Father Thomas Shaw officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mrs. Schlitt had been employed by the state of Illinois with the Department of Public Aid office staff.

She was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Lincoln to Emmett and Goldie N. Byrnes Hickey. She married Ferdinand J. Schlitt in Elkhart on Aug. 3, 1946. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, John (and Dorla) Schlitt of Franklin, Tenn., Jay (and Sue) Schlitt of Elkhart and Jeff Schlitt of Mount Pulaski; six grandchildren, Kari (and Dan) Williams, Kyle Schlitt, Kris Schlitt and Krey Schlitt, all of Nashville, Tenn., Monica (and Herchel) Williams of Cantonment, Fla., and Damien Schlitt (and Carly Hawn) of Bloomington; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, James T. Hickey.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Mount Pulaski.

She had a professional dancing career, was a curator for the Lincoln College Museum and participated in the Girls Club of Mount Pulaski.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhart.
