LCC Splits With Eureka

[January 31, 2008]  The Lincoln Christian College basketball teams split their home games with Eureka College on Wednesday.

Angels

The Angels dug themselves into a big hole in the first half and were not able to recover while playing the Red Devils of Eureka College. The Angels were only able to score 16 points in the first period and dropped to 2-17 with a 52-41 loss.

Jessica Blythe had 10 points and seven rebounds and Emma Hanford had 10 points and six rebounds to lead the LCC team.

The Angels will next play Saturday at Westminster College.

Preachers

The Preachers defeated the Red Devils of Eureka College 93-76 to improve their season record to 6-13. Eureka scored the first two points of the game, but LCC took the lead at 4-2 and never trailed again. After building a 12-point lead at the half, the Preachers outscored Eureka 51-46 in the second period.

LCC shot 45.8 percent from the field, including 11-of-27 from 3-point range. Kyle Wilson was 3-of-6 on 3-pointers as seven different Preachers hit from outside. Jon Wallace was more than the Devils could handle inside as he led LCC with 20 points and captured 12 rebounds. Three other Preachers were in double figures: Kyle Wilson 13, Adam Everett 12 and Matt Searby 10. Ten different players scored for LCC.

The Preachers will play at Westminster College on Saturday.
