Brendan Hansen is heading to his second straight Olympics with a win in the 100-meter breaststroke, but his time in the final of the U.S. swimming trials fell far short of his own world record.
|
Hansen, who won three medals at the Athens Games, was more than three-tenths off record pace at the turn, and he couldn't make up the gap. He did win the race, holding off Mark Gangloff with a time of 59.93, well off the mark of 59.13 he set nearly two years ago.
Gangloff took the likely second spot on the Olympic team in 1:00.42.
