Lagat, Tegankamp, Dobson set for Beijing in 5,000

[July 01, 2008]  EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Bernard Lagat, Matt Tegankamp and Ian Dobson have qualified for the U.S. Olympic team in the men's 5000 meters.

Lagat, a naturalized American citizen born in Kenya, won with a time of 13 minutes, 27.47 seconds. He sprinted from fourth to first over the final lap, which he ran in 58 seconds flat.

He will try to qualify for the 1,500, his best race, later this week.
