The Lincoln Heat advanced to the championship game, in which they
were going to have to play the Midstate Crushers. Horchem started on
the mound for the Heat. The Crushers struck early, hitting a solo
homer in the bottom of the first. The Heat came back in the third,
squeezing in a couple of runs. The Crushers weren't ready to give up
yet, though. They came back and scored two more runs in the bottom
of the third to take a 3-2 lead. Cook took over the mound for the
Heat in the fourth and was basically lights-out.
The Heat tied the game up in the top of the fifth. Ryan Sloan led
off the inning with a bunt single and later scored on a pass ball.
Olden had an RBI single in the sixth inning, scoring Ebelherr, to
give the Heat the lead. The Heat then went on to add some insurance
runs in the top of the seventh. Heidbreder drew a two-out walk,
stole second and third, and was then driven in by Cook's RBI single.
Cook stole second and third, and then Jordan Yarcho came up with an
RBI single. He advanced on a pass ball and then stole third before
Ebelherr hit an RBI double bringing him in. And that is how it ended
up.
The Lincoln Heat 12U team beat the Midstate Crushers 7-3 in the
championship game of the Lincoln Heat Days Tournament.
