In the first game, starting pitcher Reilly Gallagher (3-1) struck
out the final batter with the bases loaded to preserve the victory.
She allowed nine hits and fanned two, and she helped herself
defensively with three assists.
The Eagles had only five hits, one each by Gallagher, Kimberly
Rhoades, Emily Payne, McKenzie O'Donohue and Jazzminn Morecraft, but
were aided by three-RBI performances by O'Donohue and Mikaela
Meagher and two RBIs from Danielle Burgrabe, Mikayla Smith and
Morecraft. Heather Curry and Payne each added an RBI for the Eagles.
In the second game, Emily Payne made her pitching debut, struck
out one and did not allow a hit in two innings of work. She was
relieved in the second inning by Kimberly Rhoades (0-1), who
suffered the loss after Mason City came back from a 13-3 deficit by
tallying six runs in the second, four before the change occurred,
and five runs in the third. Rhoades exhibited solid control,
allowing only two walks, but three hits and two defensive mistakes
cost the Eagles the final runs in the game.
Gallagher was 2-2, including a double and two RBIs. Other hits
came from Curry, Payne and Rhoades. Others with two RBIs were Smith,
Payne, O'Donohue, Meagher and Burgrabe, and Rhoades tallied one RBI.
The Eagles are now 4-6 on the season.
