Heat 12U win Riverton tournament

[July 07, 2008]  RIVERTON -- The Lincoln Heat 12U team played in the Riverton 4th of July Tournament over the weekend. After having Friday's games rained out, the Heat went to Riverton on Saturday to play two games.

The Heat faced Petersburg in the first game of the tournament. Joey Olden went the distance, striking out four along the way. The Heat won the first game 18-3. Leading hitters for Lincoln were Cody Heidbreder, 2-3 with a triple; Gavin Block, 3-4; Grant Cooper, 3-4; Trace Splain, 2-4 with a home run; and Joey Olden 2-3.

The Heat faced the Litchfield Lightning in the second game of the tournament. Gavin Block started on the hill for the Heat and went the first four innings before being relieved by Tyler Horchem. The Heat won the second game 14-3 against Litchfield. Leading hitters for Lincoln were Horchem, 2-4 with a triple; Jordan Yarcho, 2-3; and Sam Tiffany was 1-1 with an RBI.

The Heat faced Riverton in the final game of the tournament. The Heat kept to their winning ways, putting Riverton away after five innings by a score of 14-3. Collin Antoine went the distance for the Heat, acquiring eight strikeouts in the outing. Leading hitters for Lincoln were Antoine, 2-4; Ryan Sloan, 3-4, including two hits that came left-handed; Horchem, 3-4, with two hits left-handed; Tiffany, 3-3 with two doubles; and Olden 3-3, with two hits left-handed.
