Sue Gahr

[July 24, 2008]  Sue Ann Gahr, 76, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, surrounded by her loved ones.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Christian Church.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

From 1955 until 1966 Mrs. Gahr helped her husband with music and secretarial work in ministry at Festus, Mo., and Decatur. They moved to Lincoln in 1966 and worked with The Christian Village and Christian Homes Inc. until retirement.

She was born May 23, 1932, in Jonesboro to William Everett and Mae Lemons. She married George D. Gahr on Oct. 9, 1954, at West Side Christian Church in Springfield.

She is survived by her husband, of Lincoln; two daughters, Patti (and Dan) Becker of Lincoln and Rebecca (and Bruce) Davidson of Rainier, Wash.; two sons, George Daniel Gahr and Bruce Edward Gahr of Lincoln; and four grandchildren, Hilary and Aaron Becker of Lincoln, George Zachary Gahr of Normal and Emily M. Gahr of Munice, Ind..

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She graduated from Lincoln Christian College, as did her husband.

Memorial donations may be made to Lincoln Christian Church, The Christian Village, or Lincoln Christian College and Seminary and will be accepted at the funeral home.
