Katherine Peifer

[July 29, 2008]  Katherine G. Peifer, 98, of Lincoln, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at 1:07 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

A Mass of Christian burial for Miss Peifer was on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Abbott Claude Peifer OSB officiating. Visitation was from noon until 1 p.m. Monday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial is in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Miss Peifer was employed as an office manager for Prudential Insurance Co. in Decatur for 40 years. She retired from that profession in 1973.

She was born May 2, 1910, in rural Lincoln, to Frank and Margaret Gabbett Peifer.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jack (and Margaret) Peifer of Lincoln, Stephen (and Margo) Peifer of Portland, Ore., Tom (and Patty) Peifer of Lincoln, Margaret (and Bob) Knol of California, Carol Ann (and Jim) Methvin of Birmingham, Ala., Jane (and Skip) Junkerman of Paducah, Ky., James (and Angie) Peifer of Lawndale, Joe (and Lois) Morrow of Bloomington, Mary Peifer (and Jim Runyon) of Peoria, Robert (and Michelle) Peifer of Wildwood, Mo., Greg (and Peggy) Morrow of Lincoln, Ann (and Marvin) Mosier of Colfax, and Tim Peifer of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Peifer, Vincent Peifer and Henry Peifer, and two sisters, Dorothy Morrow and Sister Mary Teresa Peifer.

Funeral Director

She was a member of Holy Family Church and the Holy Family Society.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Society or Carroll Catholic School.
