M. Louise Nichols

[June 09, 2008]  Margaret Louise Nichols, 89, of Lincoln, died June 6, 2008, at St. Clara's Manor. She had lived in Athens for 84 years.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, 206 N. Main in Athens. Her funeral will be at the same location at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial will be at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.

Mrs. Nichols was employed by Athens School District, Cantrall's grocery store and retired from the state of Illinois.

She was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Athens to Herbert and Ida Naylor Pierceall. She married Harry Nichols, and he preceded her in death in 1970.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Peddicord of Lincoln and Karen (and Ron) Weidhuner of Athens; one son, Harry E. "Butch" (and Wanda) Nichols of Athens; five grandchildren, Tami, Diane, Tara, Missy and Mike; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last survivor among 10 siblings and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Athens Christian Church, attended the Daily Bread in Athens, and loved playing cards, bingo, quilting and going out to eat.

Memorials may be made to Athens Christian Church or St. Clara's Manor.
