Allen Osland

[June 23, 2008]  HARTSBURG -- Allen E. Osland, 55, of Hartsburg, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 8:15 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Greg Wooten officiating.

Burial will be in Niblick Cemetery, rural Lincoln. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

Mr. Osland was a steamfitter at Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1974, during the Vietnam War.

He was born Sept. 3, 1952, in Leon, Iowa, to Milford and Bernadine Smith Osland. He married Patti Hilton on June 12, 1999, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Hartsburg; his mother and stepfather, Bernadine and George Zimmerman of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Shawn Osland of Clinton and Chad (and Brooke) Osland of Lincoln; two stepsons, Craig (and Brenda) Vest of Orlando, Fla., and Zachary (and Deanna) Vest of Lincoln; two brothers, Stan (and Rita) Osland of Tempe, Ariz., and Ron Osland of Tucson, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral Director

He attended First Church of the Nazarene.

He was a life member of American Legion Post 263 and AMVETS. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Lincoln and Fraternal Order of Eagles 2708.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at American Legion Post 263 or to Eagles Lodge 2708.
