Shelby Hutchison

[March 06, 2008]  Shelby K. Hutchison, 81, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 8:45 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Brian Hutchison officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mr. Hutchison retired from Caterpillar in Decatur.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Mason City to Roy and Iva Reed Hutchison. He married Betty Jean Thompson on June 8, 1952, in Broadwell.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Ken (and Carla) Hutchison of Beason and Dan Hutchison of Lincoln; two daughters, Donna Hutchison (and Joe Parrott) of Lincoln and Bonnie (and Dr. Steve) Kottemann of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Kevin (and Natalie) Hutchison of Normal, Brian (and Amanda) Hutchison of Lincoln, Eric Hutchison of Mounds View, Minn., Cale Cecil of Lincoln and Shelby Kottemann of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Isis Hutchison and Mason Hutchison of Mounds View, Minn., Hailey Ollis of Lincoln, Emma Hutchison of Lincoln and Gage Hutchison of Normal; one sister Vera (and Don) Ramlow of Lincoln; two brothers, Richard Hutchison of Broadwell and Lloyd Hutchison of DeLand, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Hutchison of Lincoln.

One brother, George Hutchison, preceded him in death.

He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Clara's Manor and will be accepted at the funeral home.
