[March 17, 2008]  James E. Geary, 86, of Lincoln, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at 1:33 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jame Hahs officiating.

Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason.

Mr. Geary was a retired Illinois Central Railroad worker.

He was born April 15, 1921, at Yeaman, Ky., to Alvie and Ada Geary. He married Edith Louise Morris Vanover on Aug. 10, 1978, in DeWitt County.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three sons, Daymond (and Dottie) Geary, Fonzi Geary and James (and Margaret) Geary, all of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Geraldine (and Chester) Gagle of Louisville, Ky.; two stepsons, Billy Vanover of Lincoln and Eddie (and Bonnie) Vanover of Lincoln; two stepdaughters, Joanna LaFey of Lincoln and Estella (and Carroll) Hopwood of Geronomo, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

Twelve siblings preceded him in death and he was the last of his immediate family.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
