Oasis Update

[March 19, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor bingo on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. Come win nutritional food items.

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the senior center’s library. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Oasis board meeting

The Oasis board meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday and is open to the public.

Macular degeneration update

Attention, caregivers: Dr. Paul Anthony will give a presentation on "Home Adaptation for Visually Impaired and Macular Degeneration: Symptoms and New Therapies." The presentation will be at noon Friday at the senior center. Bunco

The regular bunco schedule will resume with games beginning at 1 p.m. Monday.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for March 25 features Polish sausage on a bun, macaroni and cheese, chops, and dessert. The cost of the meal is $3.75; or, if you stay and play cards, the cost of the meal is $3.25. The deadline to make reservations is noon Monday.

Bingo at the Rec

The computer special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is to buy a $20 computer and get the second for half price. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and early bird is 6:50 p.m.
