Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

Visit All Veterans Park

To the editor:

Have you visited All Veterans Park recently? We, AMVETS Post 71 in Lincoln, have been installing new granite bricks on a regular basis. The park is located on the corners of Union, Pekin and College Avenue in Lincoln.

If you know of a veteran, male or female, who has served our country honorably and is not presently represented in our current display and you would like to purchase a personal individual granite brick for only $35 on their behalf and add theirs to our display, you can do so by picking up a form from a dispenser located at the park site or by calling Ruth Haak at 217-732-8829.

We presently have over 2,000 individual bricks on display at the park, along with a very user-friendly directory to help you locate any individual veteran's brick quickly. There remains room for several more bricks.

Armed Forces Day is this Saturday, May 17, and Memorial Day is Monday, May 26. Please don't forget to fly your flags during both of these dates.
