Leona Sherrer

[May 21, 2008]  Leona Ann Sherrer, 79, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sherrer will be buried next to her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday.

She was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Lincoln, to William and Pansy Lee. She married Charles Sherrer Sr., and they shared many years together before he preceded her in death in 1984.

She is survived by seven sons, Charles Sherrer Jr. of Arkansas, Dave Sherrer of Lincoln, Gene Sherrer of Lincoln, Steve Sherrer of Georgia, Gary Sherrer of Springfield, Mike Sherrer of Arkansas and Bob Sherrer of Kansas; two daughters, Carol Paulen and Connie Gantt, both of Springfield; one brother, Walter Lee of Lincoln; two sisters, Marilyn Lolling of Hartsburg and Loretta Buckles of Lincoln; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda; two brothers; and one sister.

She was a strong influence in the lives of her 10 children and her grandchildren.

Funeral Director

She was of the Baptist faith.

She had an extensive collection of angels.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
