Inez Broughton

[November 07, 2008]  Inez C. Broughton, 90, of Naperville, formerly of Lincoln, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2008, at 8:34 p.m. at Tabor Hills Healthcare Center, Naperville.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, with the Rev. Jame Hahs officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Broughton was a homemaker.

She was born April 1, 1918, in Lincoln to August H. and Maude Swingle Menzel. She married Ralph H. Broughton on June 22, 1936, in Lincoln He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1999.

She is survived by three granddaughters, Elizabeth Kurtz (and Ken) Bertram of Naperville, Kathleen Kurtz (and Tom) Bruce of Lincoln and Ellen Peterson Claypool of Pleasant Plains; one grandson, Gene (and Deborah) Schoth of Mount Pulaski; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Baker; two brothers; and one sister.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln and the Martha, Naomi and Ruth circles of church. She was also a member of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Memorials may be made to her church.
