[November 12, 2008]  SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis will call the plays on offense for the Irish against Navy.

Weis said at his news conference Tuesday he is taking over the play calling for at least one game because offensive coordinator Mike Haywood will miss some practices this week to attend a funeral of a family member in Houston.

Weis said he might call plays for the rest of the season, since the loss of a family member can affect someone for a while. Weis called Notre Dame's offensive plays during his first three seasons as coach before turning the duties over to Haywood this year.

The change comes after the Irish lost 17-0 loss to Boston College on Saturday, with quarterback Jimmy Clausen throwing four interceptions. Notre Dame is 5-4.
