Scholarship news from Lincoln College

[October 04, 2008]  Lincoln College students Joli Boerma, Natasha Johnston, Heather Danley and Mikel Frost are this year's recipients of the Anna K. and Bernard E. Behrends Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Boerma, a 2008 graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School, is studying general education courses and is currently working toward earning an associate degree. She is the daughter of James and Jorene Boerma of Emden.

Johnston is a 2007 Hartsburg-Emden High School graduate.  She is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College with an emphasis in classes in criminal justice. She is the daughter of Jeffrey Johnston and Beth Van Cleve both of Hartsburg.

Danley, a 2008 Lincoln Community High School graduate, is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College. She is the daughter of Danny and Vicki Bree of Lincoln.

Frost, a 2007 Lincoln Community High School graduate, is currently studying general education courses. He was listed on the fall 2007 and spring 2008 semesters dean's list. He is the program director for WLNX, the student-run radio station. He is the son of Thomas and Bobbi Frost of Lincoln.

The Anna K. and Bernard E. Behrends Scholarship is awarded to students in good academic standing who have graduated from surrounding county high schools. The award honors siblings Bernard (LC Class of '48) and the late Anna Behrends (LC Class of '36).

Dale and Marian Spore Endowed Scholarship

Meghan Dean, daughter of Doug and Amy Dean of Lincoln, is this year's recipient of the Dale and Marian Spore Endowed Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Dean, a sophomore, is a 2006 Lincoln Community High School graduate. She is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College with an emphasis in classes in education. She is active with the women's golf team.

The Dale and Marian Spore Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a worthy student in good academic standing who has an interest in athletics. 

Robert D. Edwards Family Endowed Scholarship

Lincoln College sophomores Paul Boecker of Oswego and Jordan Gallagher of Lincoln have been awarded the Robert D. Edwards Family Endowed Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Boecker is a 2007 graduate of Oswego Community High School. He has achieved academic success and was listed on the fall 2007 semester dean's list. He is active with the men's soccer team. He is the son of Paul and Nancy Boecker of Oswego.

Gallagher is a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Community High School. She is currently studying general education courses and plans to continue her education at a four-year university. She was listed on the fall 2007 special honors list and the spring 2008 president's list. She is the daughter of Tom and Amy Gallagher of Lincoln.

The Robert D. Edwards Family Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a student who shows academic potential and expresses an interest in studying business. The award is in memory of former Lincoln College trustee Robert D. Edwards and is made possible by his wife, Shirley Edwards, and their family.

Dr. Edward Ulrich Memorial Scholarship

John Cosby, son of Steve and Cathy Cosby of Lincoln, is this year's recipient of the Dr. Edward Ulrich Memorial Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Cosby, a sophomore, is a 2006 Lincoln Community High School graduate. He is currently studying general education classes and plans to continue his education at a four-year university.  He was listed on the fall 2007 dean's list.

The Dr. Edward Ulrich Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a worthy student in good academic standing. The scholarship was established by
the Ulrich family in memory of Dr. Edward Ulrich, a longtime physician in Lincoln and friend of Lincoln College.

J.M. Abbott & Associates Scholarship

Lincoln College sophomores Brandon Farmer, son of Bret and Beth Farmer of Middletown, and Nicholas Bell, son of  John and Vicky Bell of Lincoln, are this year's recipients of the J.M. Abbott & Associates Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Farmer, a 2007 Lincoln Community High School graduate, is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College. He plans to continue his education at a four-year university. He is active with the men's basketball team.

Bell, a 2006 graduate of Lincoln Community High School, is currently taking general education courses and plans to earn an associate degree from Lincoln College. He plans to continue his education at Western Illinois University, where he will study law enforcement.

The J.M. Abbott & Associates Scholarship is awarded to a worthy student from Logan County who is in good academic standing.
