[October 09, 2008]  PHOENIX (AP) -- The staggering economy has sent a ripple through the Arizona Diamondbacks' swimming pool.

DonutsWith sponsor Riviera Pools filing for bankruptcy protection, the Diamondbacks are looking to sell the naming rights to the pool area behind the right-center field fence at Chase Field.

The 2008 season was the first in a five-year, $1 million deal with Riviera Pools, the latest in a line of sponsors for the popular ballpark feature.

"The natural fit over the years has been either a pool builder or supplier or a patio company," team president Derrick Hall said.

Hall said the club's other sponsorships remain robust despite the economy. But it might be difficult to find a replacement for Riviera at a time when the local housing industry is struggling.

"It could be a challenge right now, but companies know the benefit of having that location," Hall said. "It's got prominence from a television standpoint. Any ball in the outfield, you see it. Any shots of the pitcher, you've got it in the background. When you have national telecasts, that's something they focus on."
