[October 29, 2008]  The Aqua Lynx Swim Club, formerly the Lincoln Gators Swim Club, made its debut appearance with its new name at the Spooktacular Swim Meet in Peoria Oct. 24-26. The Aqua Lynx swimmers who participated represented their team well with time drops throughout the meet.

CivicAbby Martin, Danielle Burgrabe, Emily Martin and Brooklynn Elsas swam the 200-yard medley relay, which led them to a sixth-place finish. Abby and Martin both achieved time drops in the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. Danielle also dropped time in her 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley. Brooklynn finished out the meet with time drops in three events. She dropped nearly 8 seconds in the 100 individual medley.

Autumn Hoffert, Maggie Hanger, Allison Ramlow, Ashton Golden, Caleb White, Alex Downing and Carter Martin were among the 10-and-under age swimmers who participated in the meet. Allie achieved her "A" time in the 25 freestyle and the 25 butterfly. Alex and Carter, veterans to swimming meets, swam in every race together and both achieved time drops in the 25 breaststroke. Alyssa achieved her goal of under 7 minutes in the 500-yard freestyle. She wanted to achieve this goal for her dad, who is currently serving in Afghanistan.

"I've been a part of this coaching staff for a year and a half, and this was the best our team has done at a meet," said coach Cassie Hewitt. "I just couldn't believe that everyone was dropping so much time in their events."
