GREENVIEW
-- Victor "Vick" Apke, 71, of Greenview, died Saturday, Aug. 30,
2008, at his home.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Holland Barry and Bennett
Funeral Home in Lincoln. A rosary service will follow at 7 p.m. |
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. Burial will be
in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln
Mr. Apke was employed as a store clerk in the
small animal clinic at the University of Illinois
for 20 years. He later moved on to be owner of
grocery stores in Middletown, Emden and Greenview
until his retirement in 2006.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Vick was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Green Creek to
Bernard and Beatrice Richards Apke. He married
Sharolyn Cook on Feb. 9, 1963, in Rantoul.
He is survived by his wife, of Greenview; one
son, Stanley Victor (and wife Betty) Apke of Morton;
one daughter, Lorre (and husband Chad) Reents of
Springfield; one brother, Damian Apke of Effingham;
two sisters, Catherine Delaney of Fisher and Elaine
Pilgrim of Texas; and seven grandchildren, Nicholas
Apke, Evan Apke, Collin Apke, Samuel Reents, Rachel
Reents, Drake Victor Reents and Katrina Apke;
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son,
Bradley Apke; one brother, James; and two sisters,
Deloris and Patricia. |
He was a lifetime member of the Greenview AMVETS.
Memorial donations may be made to the ALS
Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
