'Y Can Do' thank-you

To the editor:

On behalf of the Lincoln Area YMCA and our "Y Can Do" families and participants, I would like to thank the Lincoln Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus for their generous sponsorship of the Y Can Do program.

The YMCA's Y Can Do program is free to all special-needs students in the area in grades kindergarten-high school. Each month the Y Can Do group meets for a special day -- having a picnic, play day, field trip or to celebrate an upcoming holiday. Every summer the children are also offered a free week of YMCA swim lessons at the Lincoln Elks Club pool. With the assistance from the Elks and the local K of C, we are able to provide our children with quality, trained staff from District 27 and LCHS. Also, thanks to their support, we are able to supply our program with meals, drinks, admissions for trips and much more.

Without the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club, the YMCA would not be able to offer this worthwhile program to the kids and families that could use our help. So once again, thank you to the Lincoln Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus and all of your members for helping the YMCA build strong kids, strong families and a strong community.

Sincerely,

Nate Bossingham
Y program director
