Bernice Berg

[September 09, 2008]  Bernice Mary Crowley Berg, 85, of Lincoln, died peacefully at her home at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2008.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, following a rosary service at 3:30 p.m.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Jeff Laible officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Berg retired in 1989 after 25 years as a receptionist for Dr. Robert Perry.

She was born March 10, 1923, in Stewartville, Minn., to Tom and Edith Stevenson Crowley. She married Laverne C. Berg on Aug. 13, 1944, at Hawthorne, Calif.

She is survived by her husband, of Lincoln; two sons, Richard (and Linda) Berg of San Juan Capistiano, Calif., and Donald (and Fran) Berg of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Judith (and Bob) Brothman of Waukegan; a daughter-in-law, Gail Berg of Alsip; three brothers, Phillip (and Judy) Crowley of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Ronald Crowley of Omaha, Neb., and Dale (and Phyllis) Crowley of Rochester, Minn.; two sisters, Carol (and Jim) Gage of Rochester, Minn., and Joann (and Eugene) Jarett of Alexandria, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert; two brothers; and four sisters.

She was a member of Holy Family Church, a past president of American Legion Post 263 Auxiliary, a eucharistic minister for many years and touched the hearts of many she loved.

Funeral Director

She graduated from Stewartville High School.

Mrs. Berg loved spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as playing bridge and a round of golf.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School.
