Ruth Joyce

[September 15, 2008]  Ruth A. Joyce, 70, of Lincoln, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at 3:30 a.m. at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln, with Dr. Robert Henderson officiating.

No visitation is scheduled. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joyce retired from Lincoln Development Center in 1999.

She was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Burton View to George and Minnie Buse Sutton. She married Dean Joyce on June 30, 1956, in Lincoln, with the Rev. Billy N. Chambers officiating.

She is survived by her husband, of Lincoln; two daughters, Kay (and Robert) Kirk of Jacksonville, Ark., and Shirley (and Rob) Joyce of Springfield; one son, Gary Joyce of Jacksonville, Ill.; five brothers, Bobby Sutton, Ronnie Sutton, Tommy Sutton, Davy Sutton and Roger Sutton; two sisters, Linda Shawgo and Cheryl Cisco; six grandchildren, Bobby (and Stacey) Kirk, Matthew (and Julia) Kirk, Benjamin (and Penny) Tutter, Jonathon Tutter, Katheryn Kirk and Aimee Miller; six great-grandchildren, Cody Kirk, Katelynn Tutter, Tristan Kirk, Jessica Kirk, Gavin Kirk and James D. Kirk; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Director

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Ruth Ann loved her family and is dearly loved in return.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice.
