Mabel Shockey

[September 15, 2008]  Mabel L. Shockey, 88, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at 9:30 p.m. at The Christian Village.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Ryan Edgecomb officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Shockey retired after 40 years of employment at Lincoln Developmental Center, where she was an administrative secretary.

She was born June 30, 1920, in Logan County to Frank and Mary Awe Teichman. She married William Edward Shockey on May 3, 1943, in El Paso, Texas. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1998.

She is survived by two nieces, Frances (Thomas) Comstock of Lincoln and Mackie Ritchhart of Springfield; one nephew, Franklin (and Judy) Sheley of Rockford; three great-nieces, Joni Comstock of Indianpolis, Ind., Jane (and Roger) Chandler of Springfield and Jill Brown of Northbrooke; three great-nephews, Scott (and Kim) Ritchhart of Lincoln, Kent Ritchhart of Schaumburg and Matt Sheley of Rockford; three great-great-nieces, Casey Ritchhart of Lincoln, Lindsey Brown of Northbrooke and Gillian Sheley of Rockford; and three great-great-nephews, Matthew Brown of Northbrooke and Jacob and Will Sheley of Rockford.

Funeral Director

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Ray and Frankie Teichman; and three sisters, Helen Langenbahn, Hazel Sheley and Irma Teichman.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1937.

Memorials may be made to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital or The Christian Village.
