[September 18, 2008]  MACOMB -- Sylvia K. Barber, 47, of Macomb, a Lincoln native, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at 2 a.m. at McDonough Hospital in Macomb.

A celebration of life will be at American Legion Post 263, 1740 Fifth St. in Lincoln, at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Rebecca Rising will officiate.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Ms. Barber was an accountant for Rehab Products and Services in Danville.

She was born Jan. 12, 1961, in Lincoln to Warren Eugene and Lois Elig Petersen.

She is survived by one son, Joseph (and Stephanie) Toth of Catlin; one daughter, Sonja (and Neal) Bashaw of Vermont, Ill.; her mother and stepfather, Lois and Sid Shehorn of St. Helena Island, S.C.; two grandsons, Quinton Bashaw and Kayden Toth; one granddaughter, Olivia Bashaw; one brother, Warren Gene (and Janet) Petersen of St. Helena Island, S.C.; one stepbrother, Kevin (and Sandy) Shehorn of Lincoln; two sisters, Sandra (and Larry) Self of Macomb and Sheryl (and Kevin) Fitzjarrald of Champaign; and one stepsister, Margaret Hintz of Homer Glen.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Robert N. Petersen; one stepbrother, Homer Shehorn; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral Director

She was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School; Parkland College, where she earned her associate degree; and Illinois State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in accounting.
