William Gresham

[September 19, 2008]  ATLANTA -- William Thomas "Bill" Gresham, 84, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at 2:45 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home, with Maurice Stribling officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Military rites and burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta.

Mr. Gresham owned and operated a sawmill and land clearing company in Atlanta. He retired from Hoblit Seed in 1987 after 20 years with the company.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was born March 5, 1924, in Atlanta to Clinton Otto and Bernice Lawyer Gresham. He married Fern L. Harvey on Dec. 14, 1947, in Atlanta.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; one son, Gary (and Delores) Gresham of Atlanta; a son-in-law, Bill Timm of Hartsburg; one brother, Delbert (and Faye) Gresham of Atlanta; one sister, Mary Lou Gresham of Lincoln; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia L. Timm; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral Director

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Gresham Crutchley Post 341.

He loved working outdoors in his garden and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Memorials may be made to his family or to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.
