[September 17, 2008]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Linda Thomas, 68, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Sept. 1, 2008, at her home in Fountain Valley, Calif.

A memorial service for Mrs. Thomas will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral home in Mount Pulaski. Interment will be in Louisville, Ky.

She was born Sept. 19, 1939, to Herbert F. and Edna Mae Short Stivers. She married Roger Thomas in 1961.

She is survived by her husband, at home; a son, Jon, and daughters Karen and Laura, all of Louisville, Ky.; and a brother, Richard Stivers of Normal.

She attended Millikin University in Decatur before her marriage. The family lived in Decatur and in Louisville, Ky., before moving to California in 1978.

Linda was very active in the alumnae group of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, holding various offices in Kentucky and California. She played a large role in establishing the sorority chapter at the University of California, Irvine.
