[April 03, 2009]  BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Here's a promotion that should be a hit for those affected by tough economic times.

HardwareThe Triple-A Buffalo Bisons announced Thursday they will offer four free opening-day tickets to any person who has lost their job. Fans wanting to take advantage of the deal need to show their unemployment debit card or a letter stating their unemployment funds have been designated to a personal account.

The Bisons open their first season as the New York Mets' top affiliate against Pawtucket on April 9.

"Our nation's pastime has seen this country through many tough times, and together the two have always come out on top," team vice president Mike Buczkowski said.

The Buffalo-Niagara region's unemployment rate for February was 9.6 percent.
