MOUNT PULASKI -- Gerald L. "Jerry"
Stewart, 56, of Mount Pulaski, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St.
Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Mount Pulaski.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First
Christian Church of Mount Pulaski, with Jeremy Thomason
officiating. |
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount
Pulaski.
Mr. Stewart worked for 23 years at Borden
Chemical in Illiopolis and then was a self- employed
mechanic for the last several years.
He was born April 20, 1952, in Mount Pulaski to
William John and Mildred Fern Beck Stewart. He
married Charlene Cowell in Mount Pulaski on Oct. 25,
1986.
He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; his
mother, of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Marcia Lynn
Stewart of Mount Pulaski; one son, Richard G.
Stewart of Auburn; one stepson, J.D. (and Kris) Neal
of Ankeny, Iowa; seven brothers, Kenny Stewart of
Illiopolis, Ronald (and Mary) Stewart of Mount
Pulaski, Richard Stewart of Lake Fork, Gary (and
Phyllis) Stewart of Lake Fork, Delmar (and Sue)
Stewart of Mount Pulaski, Dennis Stewart of Mount
Pulaski and Mark Stewart of Mount Pulaski; one
sister, Janice Cook of Mount Pulaski; five
grandchildren, Grace Coleman Neal, Tristan Neal and
Griffin Neal of Ankeny, Iowa, Madison Stewart of
Auburn, and Parker Stewart of Auburn; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian
Church. |
He loved drag racing, was an avid fan of motor
sports and was a longtime member of the National Hot
Rod Association.
He always had respect for other people, had a lot
of friends and would give the shirt off his back to
a stranger.
He will be remembered as a loving husband,
wonderful father, amazing grandpa, cool uncle, son,
brother and friend.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis University
Auxiliary House.
