Ina Smith

[April 10, 2009]  Ina Marie Palmer Smith, 75, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

There will be no services.

Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Ms. Smith was a cook at Lincoln College for some time and worked at Lincoln Developmental Center for many years.

She was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Curran.

She is survived by three sons, Russell Eugene (and Laura) Smith of Colfax, James Lester (and Raeann) Smith of Urbana and Douglas Lee (and Mary) Roberts of Lincoln; three daughters, Petricia Christine (and Clyde) Gilliland of Champaign, Barbara Jane (and Eugene) Aper of Emden and Elizabeth Kay Stinson of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Jean (and Paul) Donath of Lincoln and Patricia Duncan of Lincoln; one brother, George A. (and Dahlia) Palmer of Middleberg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester N. Palmer and Bessie Marie Stephens; two sisters, Clara Palmer and Jane Rude; and three brothers, James Palmer, John Palmer and Tom Palmer.

Funeral Directors

She enjoyed fishing, was a fantastic cook, a wonderful mother, a great singer and an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Friendship Manor, where she lived for almost 10 years.
