Veronica Batdorf

[April 21, 2009]  Veronica F. Batdorf, 103, of Lincoln, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at the Christian Nursing Home.

There will be no services. Burial will be in Rhinelander, Wis., beside her husband, at a later date.

Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

She was born Feb. 3, 1906, in Polonia, Wis., to Paul and Pauline Zymda Rinka. She married John Henry Batdorf in November of 1961 in Green Bay, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Veronica (and John) Brown of Lincoln and Toni Layton of Northfield, N.J.; one son, Arthur (and Dorothy) Obrenski of Egg Harbor, N.J.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Theresa Dutrisac, Florence Bloom and Irene Kobernat; and one brother, Edward Rinka.

She was of the Catholic faith.

During World War II she worked at the shipyards in Manitowoc, Wis., where submarines were built.

She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to The Christian Village.
