Patrick Hester

[August 18, 2009]  McLEAN -- Patrick Hester, 71, of McLean, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at 8:50 p.m. at his home.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the McLean United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Andy Maxwell officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Burial, with military rites, will be in the Funks Grove Cemetery, rural McLean.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hester retired from Wallace Computer Services in Clinton after 34 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was born Oct. 24, 1937, in Rochester, Minn., the son of Harold "Doc" and Margaret Ralph Hester. He married Sherri Shifflet on Aug. 23, 1980, in McLean.

He is survived by his wife, of McLean; two daughters, Kelly (and Nathan) Hendrickson of McLean and Kari (and Jeff) Tyler of Concordia, Mo.; one sister, Janet Jones of Farmer City; one grandchild, Tristin Hendrickson, and a future granddaughter, Baby Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the Central Illinois Ditch Riders.

Patrick enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, and he was an avid Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

He graduated from Farmer City High School and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.

Memorials may be made to the McLean United Methodist Church, BroMenn Hospice, McLean Fire and Rescue Squad, or the American Cancer Society.
