[August 26, 2009]  Bingo sponsored by Oasis

The Oasis will sponsor the bingo games for Thursday, Aug. 27, beginning at 1 p.m. at the senior center.

Blood pressure

The senior center offers free checking of blood pressure every Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director.

Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis closed Aug. 31

The Oasis will be closed Monday, Aug. 31, and resume activities Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Oasis Belles

The Oasis Red Hat group, the Oasis Belles, will meet Tuesday, Sept. 1, beginning at 11 a.m. After the meeting, lunch is available for purchase. Lunch reservations are needed and the deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28.

Free hearing test

Hearing screenings will be available Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Joyce Dearth, B.C.H.I.S., provides the service from the Hearing Aid Center. Service is by appointment only. Please call The Oasis at 732-6132.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Sept. 8 features pork steak, dressing, roasted potato, peas, and dessert. The suggested donation is $3.75, or if you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. The deadline is 4 p.m. Sept. 4.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Helen Cart and Ann Hedricks. The weekend pinochle winner was Eleanor Barton. The winner at five-in-one was Marilynn Schneider.
