William Battin

[December 18, 2009]  William L. "Bill" Battin, 79, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at 2:20 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Cremation will follow.

There will be a service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. David Ramirez and the Rev. Mark Thompson officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut. Military rites will be conducted by Lincoln American Legion Post 263.

Mr. Battin retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co., East Peoria.

He served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War.

He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Macomb to William H. and Mildred Kline Battin. He married Lois J. Donnan.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Steven Battin of Lincoln and Scott (and Karen) Battin Sr. of Lincoln; one daughter, Rhonda Kennett of Lincoln; two sisters, Sheila Swingle and Brenda Kopp, both of Lincoln; five grandchildren, George Kennett, Jamie Sprinkle, Amber Battin, Scotty Battin Jr. and Candy Latterly; and nine great-grandchildren.

One brother and an infant daughter, Deborah, preceded him in death.

Funeral Director

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

He was also a member of the Corvette Club of Lincoln and was an avid bowler.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln or the donor's choice.
