Oda 'Edith' Nicholas

[December 28, 2009]  Oda "Edith" Nicholas, 91, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at 11:28 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Mrs. Nicholas was a homemaker.

She was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Clinton, Ind., to Elmer and Sarah Wallace Brewer. She married Paul I. Nicholas on Aug. 18, 1941, in Wellston, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1984.

She is survived by three sisters, Lucille (and Thomas) Cox of Alexandria, Ind., Edna Dennison of St. Charles and Mary VanFickle of Coshocton, Ohio; two brothers, John (and Betty) Brewer of Sacramento, Calif., and William (and Doris) Brewer of Lodi, N.Y.; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Antha Brewer.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Elmer, Wayne and Alpha Brewer; and two sisters, Ruby Bicknell and Lola Riley.

Funeral Director

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to her church.
