Doris Balch

[December 28, 2009]  Doris Marie Balch, 73, of Lincoln died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at 9:55 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. The angels took her home for Christmas.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln. Dustin Fulton will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

She worked as a key holder at Dollar General in Lincoln.

She was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Lincoln to Harry and Georgiabelle Carothers Batterton.

She is survived by one daughter, Laura Swearingen of Lincoln; two sons, Paul Baker of Lincoln and Tom Swearingen of McLean; one brother, Robert Batterton of Lincoln; and three grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patty Hoehn.

She was a very devoted member of Jefferson Street Christian Church.

Doris was very passionate about her flower gardens and yard.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She was affectionately known as the "garage sale queen" by her family and friends.
