[February 10, 2009]  PEORIA -- Emma Louise "EmmyLou" Dornaus, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at 5:35 p.m. at the John C. Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be scheduled later.

Inurnment will be in Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dornaus retired from John Hackler Architects in Peoria in 1974.

She was born April 24, 1914, in Atlanta, to Dean Adams and Dollie Adella Gunnette Hoblit. She married Glenn Dornaus on June 16, 1938, in Atlanta. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2003.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (and Ronald) Sulaski of Brimfield and Roger (and Deborah) Dornaus of Peoria; six grandchildren, Curtis (and Yelena) Sulaski of Peoria, Sarah (and Wendell) Carter of Peoria, Evan (and Robin) Sulaski of Toulon, Erin (and Danny) Driscoll of Peoria, Amy (and Brent) Evernden of Houston, Texas, and David (and Erika) Dornaus of Boston, Mass.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Anne Lee (and Hanes) Newcomb of McLean.

One sister, Mary Hanes, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dornaus was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Peoria, Abraham Lincoln Daughters of the American Revolution in Lincoln, Family Motor Coach Association, PEO Chapter CZ and Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Funeral Director

She was an avid bridge player. In their retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home.

She graduated from Atlanta High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University.

Memorials may be made to John C. Proctor Endowment Home, Salvation Army, the Atlanta Public Library and Museum, or the Atlanta Betterment Fund.
