Cora Klokkenga

[February 18, 2009]  HARTSBURG -- Cora Mae Klokkenga, 99, of Hartsburg, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hartsburg United Methodist Church, with Pastors Becky Barrow and Julie Azbell officiating.

Burial will follow in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Klokkenga helped her husband farm in the Hartsburg area for many years.

She was born Dec. 19, 1909, in Bartlett, N.D., to N.O. Newby and Mary Lee Newby. She married Walter "Pat" Klokkenga. He preceded her in death in 1991.

She is survived by a very special niece and caregiver, Doris Higdon of Delavan, and several other nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family to go home.

Besides being a farmer's wife, Cora Mae was very active in the Hartsburg United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid at the church.

She was known in the area for the quilts, quilt blocks and rag rugs that she made.

Funeral Directors

Memorial donations may be made to Hartsburg Rescue Squad or Hartsburg United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
