[February 20, 2009]  Deborah Ihrer, recently nominated candidate for Lincoln city clerk for the April 7 consolidated election ballot, has reconsidered her decision to accept the nomination and has filed a withdrawal of candidacy. The withdrawal was filed with the Logan County clerk and recorder Friday morning.

Ms. Ihrer informed Logan County Republican Central Committee Chairman Jeff Short of her decision on Thursday evening.

With the withdrawal being official, the Logan County precinct committeemen in the city of Lincoln have the duty to nominate a replacement candidate. The nomination must be made within eight days of the date of the withdrawal and be filed promptly with the Logan County clerk and recorder, the election authority. However, in an effort to place the nominee on absentee ballots, the selection meeting will take place on Monday.

Short is accepting resumes of possible candidates for nomination. Candidates must reside within the city limits of Lincoln for a minimum of one year. Anyone interested in this position may submit a resume to Short. You can locate the phone number at the Logan County Republican Central Committees site at www.logancountygop.org. The deadline to submit resumes is Sunday.
