Barbara Boyer

[January 02, 2009]  MIDDLETOWN -- Barbara Ann Boyer, 71, of Middletown, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at 4:10 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Allan Dean officiating.

Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart.

Mrs. Boyer was a homemaker.

She was born Dec. 6, 1937, in San Jose to Louis and Catherine Pedigo Sublett. She married Dean Boyer on June 19, 1955, in Middletown.

She is survived by her husband, of Middletown; one daughter, Sandy Mayer of Mount Pulaski; one son, Gary (and Becky) Boyer of Middletown; one sister, Darlene (and Jerry) Freeman of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Natalie Mayer of Mount Pulaski, Allen Boyer of Atlanta, and Cory and Tosha Boyer of Middletown; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of Middletown Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 672 of Middletown, Le Femme Cabane 895 of 40 & 8, and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a breast cancer support group member and a captain for Relay For Life since 1997.

Memorials may be made to the breast cancer support group in Logan County or to Hospice of Central Illinois.
