Gene Edwin Aper, 74, of Lincoln, died
Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at 10:55 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in
Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. |
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St.
John United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Wallace
Reifsteck officiating. Burial will be in Hartsburg
Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.
Mr. Aper was employed by Lehn & Fink for 43 years
before he retired. He also farmed in the Lincoln
area.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1955.
He was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Hartsburg to Harry
and Frances Trepel Aper. He married Mary Ann Begolka
on June 24, 1956, in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons,
David E. (and Kim) Aper of Lincoln and Robert A.
(and Beth) Aper of Broadwell; three brothers, Wayne
Aper of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ronald (and Peggy)
Aper of Atlanta and James (and Catherine) Aper of
Denver; one sister, Elizabeth Kingsley of Lincoln;
three grandchildren, Michael Aper, Jacklyn
Billington and Andrew Aper; and five
great-grandchildren. |
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
brother, Wesley.
He was a member of St. John United Church of
Christ.
Memorials may be made to his church or to Maple
Ridge Care Centre.
