Mr. Leipold was a laborer in Laborers' Local 362 for over 30 years. He worked at Tobin's Pizza, J.L. Wroan & Sons and retired from Warloe Construction in June of 1995. Though he retired from construction, he never really retired, working at the Towanda post office as a substitute rural mail carrier and delivering the Pantagraph newspaper for the last 15 years.

He was born Aug. 5, 1945, in Bloomington, to L.A. "Ham" and Eula Harris Leipold. He married Sharon C. Green on Jan. 28, 1967, in Bloomington.

He is survived by his wife; his parents, of Bloomington; one son, Gregory (and Sheila) Leipold of Bloomington; one daughter, Kimberly K. Leipold of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Alison, Clayton and Whitney, all of Bloomington; and his in-laws, Alma Green of Bloomington, John and Alice Green of Bloomington, and Karla (and Richard) Schultz of Chenoa.

He coached youth baseball for several years in McLean. He also umpired slow-pitch softball and refereed basketball for several years in McLean County.

He was a member of the McLean Jaycees.

He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1963.

Funeral Director

He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved hunting and being outdoors.

His great joy was cheering on his grandchildren, Alison, Clayton and Whitney, in any number of their activities. He could always be heard on the sidelines praising their abilities.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Underneath his tough exterior was a huge teddy bear. If you knew Larry, you will arrive in casual attire.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude, McLean Christian Church or Mount Hope-Funks Grove Fire and Rescue.
